I don’t know what you were up to at about 7 this evening, but we were in the back yard appreciating the eclipse…
Ok – so that photo doesn’t really show much – so we resorted to the hole in paper trick…
And looking at the tree shadows (look how the light in between the leaves is shaped like crescents)
Then one of our awesome upstairs neighbors had the idea to use polarized lenses – with three pairs of glasses turned perpendicular this is what you got
the camera had difficulty focusing, but pretty cool none the less.
Britton and Audrey were out enjoying the eclipse (OK – Audrey may have been just a bit more interested in her ‘puffs’ at this exact moment…)
I think we should have a moment to recognize Brittons now awesome sitting skills – yea!
While we had both known about the eclipse in theory, we had forgotten until Chris was walking in from the garage and noticed that it was weirdly dark… I can totally see why ancient cultures would have noticed and been awed…
Proof we were all there:
So yes, someday Britton and Audrey, we will be able to tell you where and when you saw your first eclipse (even if you may not have noticed.

Britton looks appropriately awed with his signature “O” face 🙂 Great pictures!

OK. You didn’t burn out your eyes taking pictures through the camera did you? I actually know a woman who looked at an eclipse when she was a child. She was told not to look because it would hurt her eyes. She said it didn’t hurt. But later she had vacant spots it her vision. It got a little better, but she still has definite vision damage.
Thanks for the photos…very weired lighting in the family pics.
